AI in Media & Defence Advisory

Producer and entrepreneur with around 30 years at the intersection of media, technological innovation, and security-related developments. Full biography

Frederik Füssel is a producer, entrepreneur, and consultant with around 30 years of experience at the intersection of media, technological innovation, and security-related developments. He began in 1992 at ABC TV Austria and from 2001 to 2007 produced Volume — over 150 episodes with international guests including Metallica, Nickelback, The Hives, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

His key film projects include The Perfect Pickup, A Town Called Purgatory, People of War, and The Eternity Man. A Town Called Purgatory won at the Garden State Film Festival in 2024. The Eternity Man received a nomination at the Odesa International Film Festival and screened in the International Competition at the Warsaw Film Festival.

In 2007, Frederik Füssel founded Filmstadt Baden, home to Austria's largest green screen. In recent years he has worked intensively with artificial intelligence — from concept design to AI-supported films and new audiovisual formats, including hybrid live-action and AI-generated productions. His position is clear: AI cannot be stopped, but it must be regulated, controlled, and used responsibly — particularly regarding the rights of actors and artists.

From his documentary work in the context of the war in Ukraine, a further field of activity emerged. Frederik Füssel spends significant time with military actors and at the front, gaining direct practical insight into the use of AI in defence and security-related technologies. Today he advises companies, institutes, governments, and military actors in both development and procurement. The ethical framework remains central to his work: AI deployment requires clear accountability, binding rules, and regulation that continuously keeps pace with technological progress.
